Tips and Tricks - March 12th, 2009 - No Comments »

tips tricks Late 2008 Macbook Tips & TricksI’ve been using these shortcuts for a while and thought it was time to share them with the Mac community. You might want to bookmark this post because I will update it from time to time as I remember the ones I use as well as when I discover new easter eggs.

1. To go back and forward in Safari, hold down the trackpad button with four fingers, and slide to the left or right.

2. Use the four finger swipe in order to bring up the open applications bar, then use two fingers to scroll through and choose your open application, and then use the four finger tap on the trackpad to bring the application to the foreground.

3. You can use three fingers on the trackpad to scroll through your list of emails in Mail.

Viewing PDF using Quicklook

1. Pinch and expand to activate full screen, and do the opposite to deactivate full screen. A variation of this is used when viewing a pdf in Preview.

2. Use 3 finger swipe to go to the next page or previous page. 3 finger swipe also works when viewing a pdf in Preview.

iPod Touch, Macbook/Macbook Pro, and 1Password

Tips and Tricks - January 20th, 2009 - No Comments »

ipod touch iPod Touch, Macbook/Macbook Pro, and 1PasswordI just purchased an iPod Touch on Friday, and I am in love with it.  For me, I use the touch as a PDA for email, calendar, contacts, and social networking.  However, when I was trying to sync my iPod Touch with 1Password, I was having some issues.  As I was doing some research online, I realized that other people were having trouble syncing as well.

So, for some strange reason, I decided to try syncing with my white Macbook just in case it had something to do with a wireless issue with my new late 2008, 15″ Macbook Pro.  Then I followed the steps I had followed previously, and it immediately picked up my Macbook within seconds.  Since I will no longer be the owner of the white Macbook, I had to think of a way to make it work with my new Macbook Pro.  So then, the logical thing to do was to attach an ethernet cable to my wireless router and then attach it to my Mac.  Just like it had done for the white Macbook, the iPod Touch immediately picked up my Macbook Pro.  If this has been an issue for you, maybe my solution will help you as well.

How to Use Your Address Book to Send out a Mass Mailing

Productivity, Tips and Tricks - March 6th, 2008 - No Comments »

address_book.jpgAs some of you probably know by now, I am a big supporter of Mac’s built in features and applications. However, I do use some third party software to help with my productivity but not much. Also, some people are dissatisfied with some of Mac’s built in features, but I am quite satisfied and can always find a hidden feature to make it work. Some of you who work from home and/or do freelance work, may need to send out a mass mailing to clients every now and again. (more…)
