On last night I decided to go to the Apple store to purchase the new Late 2008, 15″ Macbook Pro. I was trying to wait until next week, but I could not hold off any longer. I must say that I did not know if I would like the new Macbook Pro. I’ve been hesitant from purchasing a Macbook Pro in the past because I was not sure if I would like the aluminum look. But when the new Macbook and Macbook Pro came out, the aluminum seemed a little more polished. And since I needed a more powerful machine due to the fact that I am a power user, I had no choice but to purchase the Macbook Pro.
So, then what is my take on the Macbook Pro…..well, I love it. When I heard through the grapevine that Apple was going to update the Pro’s keyboard to that of the Air’s version, I thought, “hmmm, I think I might see a pro in my future.” I did not care for the keyboard on the previous Macbook Pro’s and believe it or not, I think I mentioned to a friend that if the keyboard on the Pro was updated, I might consider purchasing one (this was before I heard that it would be updated). There is a lot to like about the new Pro’s but instead of rehashing what is good or not good about it, check out this article instead. However, there are three things I want to mention that is not in the article and one is that some things in Leopard seem to work better on the new Pro, two, the LED backlighting is phenomenal, and three, the glossy screen is a non-issue to me. As a matter of fact, I’ve been using it for a few hours before I remembered that the screen was glossy. Yes, it is a little reflective, but it would be no different from any other computer if I was sitting in front of a window.
I would love to hear comments from those of you who purchased one of these beauties. Do you like it, were you disappointed, did you keep it, or did you return it?
