In mid-October, Apple released their new Macbook lineup in which some people have coined it the "sleekest Mac ever." Apple outdid themselves when they released these new aluminum beauts. However, there is much good as well as bad to be said about them.

Aluminum Body

With the previous builds, the Macbook Pro's body was built with many parts. Not so with the new Macbook and Macbook Pro. Apple decided to do what is called a "brick" build. What that means is that the new Macs are built from one sheet of aluminum. This is due in part of their mission to go green. However, there is just one question. What will Apple's response be to fixing these machines if something happens with the exterior.

Keyboard

The new keyboard mimics the previous version of the white Macbook as well as the Macbook Air. It's keys are squared, their is great response time, and it feels comfortable to the fingertips.

Screen

The new line comes with a glossy screen with LED backlighting, which a log of users have been coveting for years. The LED backlighting enhances the colors and makes the graphics more vibrant. The one downside is that there will be much glare in a well lit room.

NVIDIA

This new chip gives the low end Macbook something it never had before and that is the ability to play computer games with great speed and outstanding graphics. Gamers had to invest in the higher end Macbook Pro, iMac, or Mac Pro in order to play their favorite computer games. Now this capability has come to everyone.

Trackpad

The new multitouch trackpad - which may be hard to believe - is made out of glass. It basically has similar functionality to the iPhone. They have taken away the one button and added it to the touchpad itself. That is correct, the touchpad is the one button. Not a lot of people are happy about this because they were looking for a second button, which can be found on all PC's. However, you can have the left and right click by enabling this function in System Preferences.

One other downside that may have a lot of Mac fans up in arms is the fact that there is no firewire port on the low end Macbook. It can only be found on the Macbook Pro. Nevertheless, when taking the pros and cons into consideration, the new lineup is top-notch, and knowing Apple, they will only improve on what they have started.
